Acapulco - What to Do and Where
When it comes to Acapulco nightlife, Palladium towers over the competition – literally. It is located on Las Brisas Hillside and the club has 160 foot wide glass windows. As a result, the patrons feel like they’re suspended in air. The club wait staff is quite attentive and the disco boasts a world class sound system.
Some of the world’s most famous DJ’s have played there and the club stays open until the very last guest leaves. Now that’s different! Mandara is a modern, minimalist design club offering incredible atmosphere, music, lighting and drinks.
Siboney is a piano/martini bar with a great view of Acapulco bay and is situated inside Mandara. Privado is a well known after-hours club that is open from 4 am until noon.
If your stamina is not up to par, don’t even think about it. El Alebrije and the Baby Lobster Bar also represent Acapulco nightlife at is best. The former is a huge venue with tropical flowers and reflecting pools inside. It seats a thousand people in booths and round tables and people dance to disco and Top 40 tunes. The latter is a classic beach bar where you can dance on the tables if you’re so inclined. It oozes party attitude and fun and is open until 6 a.m.
Acapulco offers many diverse ways to spend the time. One of the most unusual things you will ever see is the cliff divers at night which can be seen from the tony La Perla restaurant.
The divers climb 90 feet up the cliff, pray at the altar of the Virgin of Guadeloupe and then jump into the waves when they’re at their highest. You can tour the Coyuca Lagoon, a fresh water lagoon thick with palms and flowers and one of the natural attractions of Acapulco.
The old Humphrey Bogart movie, the African Queen was filmed there. More than 250 birds can be found among the thick vegetation so if you’re a lover of nature, this is a perfect way to spend a day.
Enjoy one of the plentiful deep sea fishing excursions or learn to scuba or snorkel in the magnificence of Acapulco Bay. The CiCi Water Park located near the convention center is fun for kids and adults alike. The Fuerte (Fort) of San Diego which was originally built to stave off pirate attacks is now a museum whose exhibits tell the story of Acapulco.
