You really can do Manzanillo on a budget.  The Hotel San Pedrito, in downtown Manzanillo, is a quaint little hotel on the beach.  It has a pool, a tennis court and a reasonable seafood restaurant on the premises.  Rooms are spacious and breezy.  In nearby Santiago, try the Hotel Brillamar on Playa Santiago.  It has clean rooms facing the beach and a restaurant.

Incredible cuisine is prepared at the in-house restaurant.

Good food on the cheap can be found at Vaq-Vi in the Hotel Zone, and in downtown Manzanillo, check out the Roca del Mar, where people watching is free with your food.  For a romantic experience, Willy’s on the Playa de Brisas is worth the visit. The French cuisine and the ocean view is just part of the atmosphere.  Kitzia’s is an elegant restaurant where you can enjoy fine international cuisine under the stars in a tropical setting.  It's extremely cozy for two.

Other restaurants that get the nod from tourists include Rosalba’s in Santiago, where they prepare Mexican food like a Mexican grandmother would.  Don Andreas is a true experience as it’s on a ranch and you can see geese, pheasants and ducks all around you. La Pergola is a wonderful restaurant where the German owner will serve up German specialties.  If you want a steak, Restaurant/Bar Vaquero is the place for you.
