As far as fun with the whole family is concerned, you can also take advantage of the many water sports and outdoor activities that are part of the all inclusive CMed Ixtapa experience. You can take wakeboarding lessons, learn how to windsurf, go snorkeling, play beach volleyball, or even just lay out on the beach, catching some rays. Whether you want to play hard or just work hard on your tan, there’s sure to be an activity that you can all enjoy as a family. Whether you’re young or old, there’s always fun to be had at the beach.
After a relaxing day for you and an exciting day for the kids, the whole family is bound to be more than ready for a big dinner. If you’re visiting CMed Ixtapa with your family, then you can choose from a variety of restaurants featuring a variety of different cuisines. If you have the night off from your family, then you can enjoy a special candlelit dinner with your spouse and rekindle a romance that you may have forgotten even existed. For a very reasonably priced hotel near the city center, the Hyatt Regency Acapulco is a good choice. It is near the convention center but faces the ocean. The rooms are spacious and most have balconies. The hotel offers two swimming pools, tennis, a full service spa and an arcade for shopping.
There are several places to eat on the property including a kosher restaurant. Las Brisas Acapulco (which was previously discussed) and the Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco are two properties that were picked as great romantic getaway spots. The latter is located on Condesa Beach, not far from the shopping district, and all the rooms are comfortable and feature balconies or terraces. There are three great restaurants on the property as well as a pool, spa and health club.
The Top Ten Restaurants in Acapulco, rated by independent surveys and actual customers are:
Su Casa/La Margarita, Coyuco 22, El Zorrito, Madeiras, El Olvido, Baikal, El Faro, La Mansion, Paradise and Kookaburra.
Although there are many chain restaurants of the kind found in the U.S. in Acapulco, be adventurous and try something more exotic. Tarascos, a Mexican food chain, and Tacos’ Tumbras are excellent local places to eat on the cheap. For a romantic dinner with that special loved one, you can try La Perla, an out-of-the-way place that serves marvelous international cuisine in a candlelit atmosphere.
Grazziel also offers international food in a lovely restaurant overlooking Acapulco Bay. Soft instrumentals play in the background as you eat. Try the wine. It’s wonderful.
Cozumel, Mexico – Eat and Enjoy
Travelers that want to relax on their vacations tend to gravitate toward spa resorts. In Cozumel, Mexico there are several from which to choose. The Mandara Spa at the Presidente Intercontinental boasts a full service luxury spa where both therapeutic and revitalizing treatments are available. Native fruits and plants are incorporated into spa treatments and ancient Mayan techniques are used to help soothe your body, mind and soul.
The Islander Spa at the Wyndham is even more luxurious offering cabanas for individuals and for couples. Their spa treatments are dedicated to relaxation as well as renewal and they use all natural and herbal ingredients. Run don’t walk to get an appointment to one of these two places!
Tourist season in Cozumel is December through March and as in all paradise-like places on the planet, hotel prices go up in high season. The weather is delightful, with temperatures averaging from 70 to 85 degrees F. They have a rainy season which begins in late summer or early fall.
You may want to plan your trip around the incredibly popular Carnivale de Cozumel which takes place in February and is the island’s biggest festival. Fishermen and fans of the sport can take in the International Billfish Tournament in March where the largest fish ever seen are caught. Saint Miguel’s Archangel Feast occurs in September honoring Cozumel’s patron saint, and there are several beautiful churches on the island you can visit should you choose to.
Street foods that are served from mobile or stationary carts are found all over Cozumel, especially in the older neighborhoods. A good tip to getting the best and freshest tacos or quesadillas or other delicious fare is to follow the locals. They know the carts that serve up the best food and the prices are unbeatable.
Ten of the best restaurants in Cozumel are: Kinta, La Cocay, Chi, Especias, Guido’s, Prima Trattoria, Il Giardino, La Morena, El Moro and Las Palmeras. The Wynston and La Veranda are two of the prime romantic eateries in town.
Natives frequent inexpensive eateries called “loncherias.” They are typically open from noon until 5 pm, Monday through Saturday and sell lunch at fixed prices. Really generous portions of food including a drink for around $5.50 are standard and be prepared: the folks working there don’t speak English. Some of the better known loncherias around town are Las Flamitas, Santa Carlos and Sabores. Eat up!
