Huatulco Hotels and Resorts - Where to Stay

Though it may not be known for the crowds other Mexican resorts have, Huatulco does have several exclusive, luxury hotel resorts.  The Camino Real Zaashila sits at Tangolunda Bay, one of nine gorgeous Bays of Huatulco.  It boasts one quarter of a mile of beach that is exclusive, a fantastic sculptured pool that is 130 yards long, a tennis court that is lighted, an outdoor Jacuzzi, and a nearby 18-hole championship golf course.

Las Brisas Huatulco is located at the western end of Tangolunda Bay, surrounded by 50 acres of tropical gardens and white sand beaches.  There are three top notch restaurants on site and the resort offers three pools, four beaches, a soccer field, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts.  Most rooms have an ocean view and are tastefully decorated, situated inside one of four villages inside the property. 

There are also full and junior suites.  The Dreams Huatulco Resort and Spa is an all-inclusive property located on a private beach.  There are rooms and suites with balconies in all, with tropical or ocean views.  There are several restaurants and cafes on the premises and a full service spa and health club. 

The general consensus seems to be that the Quinta Real Huatulco is the most romantic resort in the city.  It is known for its privacy, nestled into the hillside overlooking Tangolunda Bay, and has an Arabian feel to it.  There are 29 suites, all with balconies or terraces that offer sweeping views. 

A world class restaurant/bar is onsite and there’s a tennis court on the property and a spa and golf course nearby.  The Casa del Mar Huatulco is an adults only boutique hotel with a reputation for being very private and romantic.  There are 23 junior suites with balconies offering spectacular views.  Enjoy meals at the onsite restaurant. 

Barcelo Huatulco is an all-inclusive hotel located on the southern side of the Mexican Pacific.  The rooms are comfortable, have balconies and there are two restaurants onsite.  There is a gym and aquatic sports center and the hotel gives discounts on many local tours. Shopping in Huatulco is rather limited and consists of a myriad of small stores, markets and sidewalk/beachside vendors.  Regional specialties like embroidered blouses and dresses and barro negro pottery, made from dark clay exclusively found in the Oaxacan region make good souvenirs to bring home.
